The third under construction, where the new office is expected to have offices, was completed this month.

The second was a tower that replaced what was considered to be the most important of the state government buildings, The New West building at the corner of C Street, the second-largest residential street in Downtown Toronto.

"As the number of office towers grows, we believe this is another step in the right direction," says Lisa Schoen, director of city development at The Development Coalition.

Both of the new tower towers are expected to be about halfway between construction and completed by summer 2016.

"It's going to be quite a big impact – it's going to change the environment for all of the citizens in Central Park and all of Toronto, especially in downtown," says Stephen Cipulano, president of the Toronto Development Council.

Schoen says this time around, there will be more affordable units – at least in the first year of development – in downtown and central Toronto than there were in earlier years. "We all know that the economic, social, health, and environmental impacts of this new development will be big," she says.

The tower, which is planned for four new development areas, is slated to generate about $30 million in economic activity
